FAQ

Cruise Control (Airbag Models)
Which 80 Series need the cruise retention module?

Airbag models with factory cruise. The airbag 80 Series has the same clock spring as the 100 and 105 Series, with a separate 3-pin plug for factory cruise. To keep cruise, that plug is wired into the 3 Wire Cruise Control Retention Module, sold separately and not plug and play. Without the module the plug stays unplugged: your horn and steering wheel controls still work, and only cruise is lost. The non-airbag 80 Series has no factory cruise, so there's nothing to keep. Send us a photo of your cruise stalk plug and we'll confirm before you buy.

Which plug goes where at the clock spring?

On an airbag 80 Series the clock spring has no steering control plug. It carries the horn wire, plus the 3-pin cruise plug if your vehicle has factory cruise. The horn feed connects to the back of the new horn pad and also powers the wireless module transmitter behind the wheel. Nothing new runs through the clock spring, and the horn booster lead isn't used on it. The 100/105 wiring diagram shows every connection, and it's the same clock spring.

Is there an install video for the airbag model?

Yes. The 100/105 install video covers the airbag 80 Series, because it shares the 100/105 clock spring and airbag system. It shows the wireless module and the cruise retention module going in.

Will my airbag fit the new wheel?

The airbag 80 Series came with one of two airbag detonator sizes, 3 inch or 4 inch. Only the 3 inch seats in the new wheel. If yours is the 4 inch, a 3 inch from a newer model is a straight swap. Send us a photo of your airbag before you order and we'll confirm.
